I, Amy Rosen Lutnick am a Canadian-born Israeli artist and designer. I’m a graduate of the WIZO Haifa Academy of Design and Education, and I’ve been designing and producing Judaica and Judaic art for close to two decades.
I’m particularly well-known for my signature silk-painted Challah covers and Chuppot, which have been sold in Israel and the United States. I make keen use of universal concepts, such as shape, form and color, and gently prompt them to correspond and reverberate with some of my core personal values, such as Jewish tradition and observance, family and Zionism that remains in an ongoing conversation with my North American roots.
All of my work is hand-painted on soft Habotai silk. Each beautiful and one-of-a-kind creation is then steamed, and sewn to create the finished piece. Some of the designs have been converted to prints with graphic work added to them, and are printed on different mediums such as canvas, paper and magnets. Many hours and much love are devoted to this magical and detailed process. It is a great joy to hold the beautiful result of such careful work and a truly unique process in one’s hands.
